Sensory Activity - Feed the Cat!
Sensory activities play a crucial role in a child's development. These activities stimulate the senses and help children explore and understand the world around them. By engaging in sensory play, children can enhance their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills.
Activity: Feed the Cat!
Materials:
For this activitie you will need:
- 1 Clear ziplock bag;
- Normal duct tape or really strong glue;
- Insulating tape;
- Clear hair gel;
- Scissors;
- Self-adhesive laminating plastic;
- Cat and small fish (pdf for printing below).
Instructions:
Before preparing the activity, read all the instructions carefully.
Step 1: Print out and cut out the small fish from the pdf. Laminate the fish with the self-adhesive laminating plastic.
Step 2: Put some hair gel in the bag (don't put too much so there's room to put the objects around).
Step 3: Add the plasticized fish to the bag
Step 4: When all the fish are in the bag, close it tightly and tape it up so that the hair gel doesn't come out.
Step 5: Cut out the cat and the hole for its mouth. Glue the cat to the front of the outside of the bag with tape or glue.
Step 6: Now the fun begins! Can the child get the fish into the cat's mouth?
Activity adapted for older children:
Instead of taping the bag shut, let the child put their hands inside the bag. Place the cat on the table so that the child can feed it.
